Tea&Bridge at Pullman Riga. When Clarity Meets the Card Table

Tea&Bridge at Pullman Riga. When Clarity Meets the Card Table

Wine glasses. Aged teas. A winning sip of silver needles and grapefruit. And a room full of bridge players.

Not your typical tea evening. But then again, we like it that way.

The Setting

It was an evening at Pullman Riga, where the soft shuffle of cards and quiet concentration of bridge players filled the room. In the midst of it all, we set up our portable tea corner,  not so much with traditional cups, but with wine glasses.

Why wine glasses? Because tea, like wine, deserves to be swirled, breathed in, and appreciated before the first sip. And because bridge is a game of elegance, strategy, and focus- why should the drink be any different?

The Sips

We brought along a selection of aged teas- vintages that have matured over years, even decades. Because to understand tea is to understand time. How flavour deepens. How sharp edges soften. How patience rewards.

Guests tasted their way through history, experiencing what "aged" really means -not just old, but evolved.

And then came the surprise hit of the evening...

Silver Needles with Grapefruit Juice.

Yes, you read that right. The delicate, buds of Bai Hao Yin Zhen, known for their subtle sweetness and silky texture, met the bright, sharp freshness of grapefruit. Served in a wine glass, it was unexpected. Refreshing. And according to the bridge players at the table- the winner.

A tea cocktail that sharpens the mind and surprises the palate. Who knew?

The Connection

At first glance, tea and bridge might seem an unlikely pair. One is often associated with quiet solitude, the other with social strategy.

But spend an evening with both, and the logic emerges.

Bridge demands mental clarity, patience and presence.  A good hand requires focus. A good game requires calm. And tea- real tea, thoughtfully brewed, delivers exactly that. It wakes the mind without the jitter. It soothes without the slump.

The players noticed. Between tricks and trumps, there were moments of pause. A sip. A breath. A return to the game, sharper than before.

Open for Collaboration

This evening reminded us of something important- tea belongs everywhere. Not just in tearooms and quiet corners, but in places where people gather, think, play, and create.

We're always open to challenging pairings. A card game. A gallery opening. A creative workshop. A corporate meeting that needs a better brew.

If you have an idea,  an event, a space, a moment that could be elevated by tea-let's talk. We'll bring the leaves, the glasses, and the willingness to experiment.

Because tea, like bridge, is better when shared.
