Zhangping Shuixian 漳平水仙 Hand-pressed oolong tea

Crafted in the misty hills of Zhangping, Fujian (650m altitude), this Spring 2025 harvest isn’t just made, it’s built. Only the sturdiest leaves from the venerable Shuixian cultivar are chosen, the ones strong enough to handle the ancient pressing ritual. They’re gently shaken in bamboo baskets, just enough to awaken a light oxidation that blushes the leaf tips red and whispers a promise of the floral depth to come.

Then comes the art- pressed into its iconic square shape with a wooden tool and swaddled in simple, candid paper. It arrives in your hands like a secret parcel.

Place the entire square into your pot. Don’t break it. As boiling water touches it, watch. The tightly-bound leaves begin to unfold, releasing an intoxicating floral bouquet that instantly claims the air around you.

The fragrance is staggering in its elegance- a dance of orchids, narcissus, magnolia, and gardenia. It’s profoundly sweet, deeply creamy. In character, it’s the perfect lovechild- posessing the captivating aroma of classic Tieguanyin oolong met with buttery, gentle body of a fine Taiwanese oolong.
